Symbols:A symbol in literature is some object or thing that stands for a concert or some other abstract idea or thing.
Some popular symbols in literature are like the green light at the end of Daisy Buchanan in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. One of the symbols in the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelly is the symbol of ice. Frankenstein discovered fire during one of his first days in the forest. Ice is the opposite of the comfort giving, and life giving force of fire in the begging of the novel. The introduction of ice in the novel is in the Arctic. This is where Victor is at a point in his life where he is at his wits end. Ice is cold and unforgiving. The ice is a symbol of the fate of victor's life at this point. |
